Who knows? The way things are, I doubt we would get a straight answer even if we asked. [Because the furries are fucking CRYPTIC.] Furthermore, I'm not so sure this house originally belonged to Master Blue.
[Either way... Akechi watches Akira's reaction for a moment longer, before pushing himself away from the door. He then moves towards the closet, digging through it for what appears to be a box with something written on it. He will then pull out a, uh, slightly gross looking envelope out, which he will hand to Akira.]
We were forced fight twelve other [ah] creatures before we could complete the puzzle that let us exit the room. I found this at the end.
[There's a single sheet of paper inside, also gross... There are definitely some bloody smudges on there, dry but still fairly recent looking.]
That explains the pain. And. . . the injuries. What I wouldn't give for a good Diarahan right now.
[a deep breath, and Akira composes himself in time for Akechi to hand him the envelope. despite the gross goo and smudges littered across the paper, he takes it without hesitation, opening it up to scan the paper inside]
[There is, in fact, something written on it! It appears to be a journal entry dated for October 31st, though the year is illegible. It reads:]
It has come to my attention that few are cognizant of the issues presented in the identification of the dead. In many cases, a medical examiner cannot create a death certificate if the body is missing or cannot be properly or accurately identified at the time of the certification. Without proof of a cause, can the victim truly be claimed as dead?
Subject 9's heart beats steadily and seems to fully function on its own after isolating the anomaly. Subject's 6 and 11 continue to serve as a standardized test of durability, and while subjects 2 and 3 have formed some sort of bond, subject 15 remains increasingly hostile and subject 12's cause of death still remains unidentified.
The most unusual guest, subject 13, continues to prove himself to be highly intelligent post-mortem. Though incapable of speech, subject has shown immense strength of will and almost seems to display human-like emotions and understanding. Reconstructing the body has proven successful, and other subjects have been properly disposed.
The answer continues to allude me, but the last of the guests have been finished off. It appears as though several of them lived well past their time of death, though most of their minds have quickly deteriorated. So long as they remain in their cells and are isolated from one another they are manageable. Regardless, I fear that they may overwhelm me in this house the longer I study them, and if a proper method of killing is not found soon.
They grow stronger every day. Though proud of the work accomplished, I still wonder what it's all for.
[Akechi will just watch him, drinking his coffee while waiting for him to react.]
[He takes the envelope back, watching him for a moment longer... and nodding. Even though Akira clearly feels angry, Akechi is strangely subdued. Or, perhaps, exhausted is more accurate. Like of course this is happening. What else did he expect? It's not like he isn't used to being the subject of someone else's manipulations.]
Because it is one. [Unfortunate! Don't mind him as he finishes off the mug, sets it down, and moves to tuck the page away again while walking and talking.] But if it's relevant to our situation, it makes things far more complicated than I previously thought. The anomaly present in these guests may be related to the one we're currently up against... and the true reason for our presence in this mansion.
[Emphasis on "guests," a word used by both the sisters and the author of this entry.]
The living dead would fit the theme we've seen so far, after all.
[Akira has never been one to feel things halfway, though that surge of anger does begin to summer into something cooler. less immediate. still present, but more controllable]
Have you tried asking the sisters about it yet?
[because he has no theories himself. all he knows is that the idea of being treated like some kind of experiment makes his blood boil]
[EXASPERATION FEEDBACK LOOP. AKIRA IS EXASPERATED, TOO]
I think it's saying that Valentini killed the horse.
The part about Meltryllis and Galo, though. . . I don't know. It almost seems like it's saying neither of them are fish-snakes— dragons??— but considering Meltryllis killed Nia, that doesn't make sense.
The feedback loop is abruptly broken, because all of Akechi's emotions are suddenly replaced with shock. The kind that turns your insides into ice, your heart plummeting to the bottom of your stomach. Akira will definitely have to analyze what that means, because Akechi's voice is flat when he speaks.]
What do you mean [SLOWLY] that Meltryllis killed Teppelin?
His gaze drifts for a moment, the shock giving way to anger as realization sinks it. Surprisingly, perhaps, it doesn't start off as anger towards Akira. It's anger towards Akechi himself, and maybe Akira will feel the urge to punch him in the face for it. It certainly seems like he's furious, so that's fun.]
I see. [Hah. Haha. Well. The anger has changed direction, at least. Maybe now he's thinking about punching Akira in the face as he meets his gaze.] How long have you known about this? Since Sunday?
[WOW that sure is an urge. Akira's hand even twitches in response to it, before he reins himself in and does his best to respond to that anger with calm.]
[he lifts his chin and nods]
. . . late Sunday, but it was after my conversation with you on that day. I wanted to talk about it as sooner-- Monday, actually-- but we were preoccupied.
[presumably by the emotional bond link AND THEN AKECHI DISAPPEARED ON TUESDAY SO]
What did I say about distractions? Do you even realize what this means?!
[Well. It is absolutely not Akira's fault, but that won't stop Akechi from feeling absolutely pissed off. What the hell, what the hell, what the hell...]
For once in his life, it seems like Akechi is making an effort! Or, well, an effort not to dig this hole any deeper. Redirecting his anger, eyes flickering to the side as he glares a hole into the floor. He's still furious, it still feels like he wants to punch himself, but...
Mumbling, almost:]
... Tch, how could I be so blind?
[Whatever.
Akira's note is still in his hand, though, so he holds it out to him.]
For now, don't show that note to anyone else. It will only create more confusion, as long as the sender's true intentions remain unknown.

So it was another time discrepancy. Like with Amada-san.
[jesus christ.]
Or she was killed years ago, and Master Blue has been inviting victims into their mansion for years.
[JESUS CHRIST. Akira rakes a hand through his hair, hissing a curse under his breath]

hey what the fuck]
[surprisingly, this time? Akira doesn't react. but he does gently fold the paper and stick it back into the envelope to hand back to Akechi]
. . . it reads like a research journal.
[his tone is clipped. Akechi will feel a surge of anger— directed at whomever wrote these notes]

Not yet. But it's on the agenda.

Okay.
[the anger continues to cool, but it's replaced by exhaustion. frustration. a silent question— why this again??]
. . . thanks for sharing. I really want to know who wrote that, and if our presence here is another one of those stupid experiments.
But in the meantime, I have something to show you, too.

I think someone was trying to send me a message? I found this in my pocket earlier today.

Just like that? [Sheesh...] What do you think it means? It's obviously referring to Valentini-san, Meltryllis-san and Thymos-san, but...
[DOES STEFANO IS HORSE?]

I thought Wright had told you already.
Meltryllis killed Nia. Wright voted for her and received an item for voting correctly. Much like we did the week before.

[and then there's more calm. like he's trying to throw a blanket of calm over Akechi's anger. CALM DOWN, PLEASE]
Of course I know what it means. I'm not stupid.
